The program offers a unscratched structured environment during a time when students are at-risk for rhadamanthine involved in unhealthy behavior. Students are engaged in activities and on-going relationships that increase conviction and encourage success in all areas of their lives -- at home, in school, and in the community. Objectives of theWithoutSchoolWonkProgram (ASAP) include improved performance in cadre wonk areas with an accent on reading, ELA, math and science; improved homework completion, matriculation participation, and behavior; opportunities for students to be increasingly involved in the arts and recreation; and increased parent involvement in their children’s education and development. Activities will be learner‐focused with enrichment and remediation presented through innovative lessons, student projects, small group learning, and technology. The school system offers the ASAP program on a tuition understructure at East Newton, Flint Hill, Live Oak, Livingston, Oak Hill, Porterdale, Rocky Plains, South Salem and West Newton elementary schools and Newton County Theme School. Newton County School System was awarded a 21st CenturyPolityLearning Centers grant to expand the ASAP, targeting children identified as needing after‐school services and remediation, but whose families cannot sire the tuition‐based program once in place. The 21st Century CLC provides federal funds to establish or expand polity learning centers that operate during out-of-school hours and that have three specific purposes: To provide opportunities for wonk enrichment and tutorial services To offer students a wholesale variety of spare services, programs, and activities to reinforce and complement the regular wonk program; and To offer families of 21st CCLC students opportunities for literacy and related educational minutiae Funding from the program has unliable the district to serve 800 spare students tuition‐free in the ASAP in 14 locations, Fairview, Flint Hill, Porterdale, Middle Ridge, West Newton Elementary, Clements, Cousins, Indian Creek, Liberty, & Veterans Memorial Middle, Alcovy, Eastside & NewtonUpperSchools and Washington StreetPolityCenter. ASAP is offered to students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Elementary students remain at their schools and are picked up daily by parents/guardian at dismissal. Middle and upper school students are transported home daily without the program closes. The ASAP is designed for students who are worldly-wise to participate independently in age-appropriate activities within a 1:15 teacher/student ratio. The program’s operating hours are 2:10 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the elementary schools, 4:15 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the middle schools, Monday through Friday. The upper school program is held 3:15 until 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The program does not operate on weekends, school vacation, holiday periods, and teacher priming days. When schools are sealed due to ripply weather, students should be picked up immediately.
